long time gone

so... it's definitely may. i've been keeping crafty, i just don't have pictures to show for it... :)
i made a hat and scarf set for jessica, a fellow jeffie, and i'm in the process of completing the scarf for another set for amanda, a former jeffie. i finished the cleaves deviated shrug in turquoise and made another one in homespun's prarie. oh! and i made a panta! super-exciting.
i'll post photos when i get 'em... meaning after my room is sufficiently clean enough to have pictures taken within it. this could be a long time.... :)

scarves

oh man. i am officially a super-idiot.
i just crocheted a scarf for both my grandma (who's currently in the hospital) and my grandpa in two stitches/patterns i had never tried before... then i sent them with my mom and dad when they went up to see them without taking pictures... :)
raaarrrr.

yeah so... i haven't posted a lot up here. i was going to add "lately" to the end of the previous sentence but there really haven't been many posts on this blog, period. i've had a lot on my mind during the past week or so and even though i want to just create something so badly, it would be categorized under procrastination because of all the other crap i need to do. also, i did make some things during the past holiday season but, alas, i forgot to take pictures.
more to come when i get my crap done!

i thought i'd post my halloween costume today as well.
i was rainbow brite this year, as i have been for the past three years. i love wearing the costume and i've tried to improve it each year. this year was the first year that i actually had a figure with the costume, so that was good.
i made everything except for my shoes. my mom helped with the wig because i felt like she was a better seamstress and i made her do it. :)

cleaves deviation

so i started working on my version of a shrug, taking into consideration the knit "hug" pattern from magknits.com and "cleaves" from knitty.com. also, YOU should take into consideration that this is my first knitting project. :) it's kind of slow going but i'm about halfway through it. i've got one whole arm piece already though that i need to eventually sew together because i didn't want to try circulars my first time out of the gate! for the pattern, i stopped at the first set of increases for cleaves and i'm just using the hug pattern as a basis for measurement, since the gauge size is similar. unfortunately, i only have photos from some of the beginning stuff.

i'm using joann's sensations angel hair in turquiose and i love it! it's a little slippery just because it's so soft but the softness is unbelievable. people come up to me in the residence hall and ask what i'm making and i tell them what it is, then tell them to feel it. i always get, "oh my god, that feels so good!" :) everytime i take a step back, look at it and feel it, i squeal with excitment because i know i'll love wearing it.

*cue fanfare*

hello! my name is kristen and this would be my very first post!

i hope to include on this site some craft-related things that i'm working on... if they ever move from the "wip" category to finished projects. if i feel so inclined, i may also post some things i've worked on for ResLife at OU as an RA (enough acronyms? :)) and maybe some projects and ideas for my major (Middle Childhood Education with Language Arts and Science concentrations).

so yeah. i'll get on that later. :) i need to drum up some excitement for the East Green Games that start in two hours or so.
